1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is [name of the owner or company], with its address at [address], Argentina. For any questions about your data: hello@quizmo.club. This policy applies to the Quizmo app and the quizmo.club website (the “Service”) and forms part of the Terms of Use.
2. What data we use
When you play, with or without an account
- An anonymous player identifier created by the app.
- Your answers (what you type, up to 140 characters), whether you got them right, your score, the hints you used and the scenes you saw.
- Your estimated skill level, which we calculate from your correct and wrong answers.
- Technical data about your phone: model, operating system, app version, language, approximate country (based on your settings or IP address) and error logs.
- Your purchases (what you bought and when; payment is processed by Apple or Google).
- Your preferences: notifications, sound, personalized ads and usage data.
If you create an account
- First name, last name and email, which Apple or Google provide when you sign in (with Apple you can use a hidden email).
- Date of birth, country and, if you choose to tell us, your sex.
- Your nickname, your character and, if you tell us, how you heard about Quizmo.
- Your high score, your league, your leaderboard position and your participation in challenges.
If you send us something
- The scene screenshots you suggest and their information. Before storing them, we remove the photo's location metadata.
- Reports about a scene (with the answer you had typed) or about other players, and messages to Support (with the email you leave us, your account email if you are signed in, your phone model and the app version).
For ads
- Your phone's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, only if you allow it; advertising ID on Android) and data about how you interact with ads, collected by Google AdMob.
We do not use your precise location, your contacts, or your camera or microphone (to suggest a scene, you pick an image from your gallery).
3. What we use it for
- To make the game work: showing you scenes, evaluating your answers, keeping track of your points, tickets and league, and saving your progress to your account. Answers that do not match the title are reviewed by an automated system.
- To choose scenes: we use all players' correct-answer statistics to rank scenes from easy to hard, we estimate your skill level from your answers to pick scenes of the right difficulty, and we do not repeat scenes you have seen recently.
- Leaderboard and challenges: showing your nickname, character, country and score to other players.
- Purchases: validating purchases and delivering tickets or “No Ads”.
- Ads: showing ads that fund the game; personalized only if you accept them.
- Improving Quizmo: measuring usage in aggregate, finding bugs and deciding what to improve (only if you left usage data turned on).
- Security and fair play: detecting cheating, abuse and fraud, and handling reports.
- Communications: notifications on your phone about the Movie of the Day and when your free tickets are ready (if you turn them on) and, if you opt in, news by email. You can turn them off at any time.
- Complying with the law and defending our rights.
We do not make decisions that have legal effects on you by automated means. If you think an answer was evaluated incorrectly, you can report it from the scene screen.
4. Legal bases
We use your data because it is necessary to provide the Service you requested (contract), with your consent (personalized ads, usage data, notifications and emails; you can withdraw it at any time), based on our legitimate interest in improving the game and keeping it secure, or to comply with legal obligations.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We only share it with:
- Providers that help us provide the Service, who may only use it for that purpose: Google (Firebase and Google Cloud: sign-in, database, storage, functions, remote configuration, analytics and error logging; and the automated answer evaluation service), Apple and Google (sign-in and payments).
- Google AdMob, to show ads and measure their performance. If you accepted personalized ads, AdMob and its partners may use your advertising identifier to show you ads based on your interests. You can see how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Other players: your nickname, character, country, league, scores and the scenes you suggested (“Suggested by”).
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Quizmo or other people.
- A buyer or successor, if the Service is transferred to another person or company; this policy will continue to apply.
We may share aggregated or anonymous data that does not identify you.
6. International transfers
Our providers may store and process your data outside your country, for example in the United States or the European Union. Where required by law, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers, such as standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account data, for as long as you have the account. When you delete it, we erase your profile, scores, tickets and nickname; your scores no longer appear on the leaderboard.
- Data of players without an account, for as long as you use the app; if you do not open it for 1 month, we delete it (if you bought tickets, we keep it for 24 months so you do not lose them).
- Screenshots you suggest that we do not use are deleted when we review them. Those published as a scene stay in the game even if you delete your account, without your nickname.
- Some data is kept longer if the law requires it or to resolve claims and prevent fraud (for example, the purchase record).
8. Your rights
You can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, object to its use, restrict it, withdraw your consent and receive a copy in a commonly used format.
- From the app: edit your nickname and character in Profile, turn off personalized ads, usage data and notifications in Settings, and delete your account in Settings › Account.
- For anything else, write to us at hello@quizmo.club from your account email. We respond within the time limits set by law (30 days at most, unless the law of your country sets a different one).
You can also file a complaint with the data protection authority in your country. In Argentina, it is the Agency for Access to Public Information (Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública, AAIP), the authority responsible for enforcing Law 25,326.
European Union and United Kingdom. You have the rights granted by the GDPR, including the right to object to personalized advertising and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
United States (California and other states). You have the right to know what data we collect, to ask us to delete or correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell data for money, but showing personalized ads may be considered “sharing” data under some state laws: you can prevent this by turning off personalized ads in Settings or in your phone's privacy settings.
Brazil. You have the rights granted by the LGPD, including access, correction, deletion, portability and withdrawal of consent.
9. Ads and how to control them
- The first time you open Quizmo, you choose whether to accept personalized ads. If you do not accept them, after 24 hours the system asks you once (on iOS, Apple's prompt to allow tracking; on Android and in the European Economic Area, Google's consent form). If you say no, we do not ask again.
- You can change this at any time in Settings › Ad preferences, and in your phone's settings: on iOS, Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking; on Android, Settings › Google › Ads.
- Even if you turn off personalization, you will still see ads, but they will be less related to your interests. With “No Ads”, you do not see interstitial or banner ads for 7 days.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, such as encrypted connections and database access rules. No system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Minors
Quizmo is not directed at people under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
12. Third-party links and services
Ads, the Apple and Google stores and other linked sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for them.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We publish the new version with its date and, if the change is significant, we notify you in the app before it takes effect.
